FireHeart Paladins Walkthrough - Chapter Four Part 2

Alceste Cemetery

Explore the area, move boulders by simply “pushing” them, follow the path, fight off undead, namely skeletons, ghosts and zombies until you reach the entrance gate to the royal mausoleum. Save your game and prepare yourself to deal with:

BOSS: Guryal the Defiler, Skeleton King
HP: 3500
Along with three skeleton warriors, he’ll attack you with some fancy moves, including Three-Point Chain Slash, Flying Blade and Poison Breath. The trick is: always try to trick the enemy before he tricks you.

Once you defeat him, freshen your team up before entering the next area.

Royal Tomb

Now here’s one tricky area. You’ll have to open doors, push levers and push boulders to proceed (Think first! If you’re stuck you’ll have to load your game and restart!), and here’s the clue – figuratively according to the map.

You start from the “bottom of the map”, and the gates on the left and right are closed.

1st Tier
Move (ACTION button) Lever A on the left, and Gate A on the right will open.
Move (ACTION button) Lever B on the right, and Gate B on the left will open.
(Proceed Up)

2nd Tier
Move (ACTION button) Lever B on the right, and Gate B on the left will open.
Move (ACTION button) Lever A on the left, and Gate A on the right will open.
(Proceed Up)

3rd Tier
Move (ACTION button) Lever C on the left, and Gate C on the center will open.
Move (ACTION button) Lever D on the right, and Gate D on the right of 4th Tier will open.

4th Tier
Proceed up through the opened Gate D on the right.
Move (ACTION button) Lever E on the top right, and Gate E on the left will open.
Proceed up through the opened Gate E on the left.
Move (ACTION button) Lever F on the top left, and Gate F on the center will open.

Save your game and prepare your party, and then go through the opened Gate F. Move straight up to trigger a cutscene and a battle with...

BOSS: Bakkhal the Foul, the Ghostly Necromancer
HP: 4000
As a magician-type ghost, he is hard to hit with normal attacks and tend to use magicks like: Weapon Curse, Lightning Blast, Lightning Burst and HP-absorbing Vampirism. Be patient and use your resources especially Carol’s magic, and you will prevail.

After defeating Bakkhal, it’s back to the palace for a long story cutscene involving Robert who finally settles (almost) all matters of his past and is ready to face the future.

The next thing the group wants to do is to go to Grad Mountains in Aurelia Mainland to meet Carolyn’s ex-tutor, Paolo Marvellini.

IMPORTANT! Before setting sail, bring at least 1500 geines with you (500 geines for the ship fare, and 1000 geines for an important purpose). If not, you’ll be in deep trouble (unless we fix something up in later versions of the game, maybe 4 or so).

After replenishing your supplies, go out of Alceste and walk eastwards to the harbor of Wagnerport. Pay 500 geines to board the ship and off you go, sailing to Arcadia and the next chapter.

Strong Bow

Description:
The objective of the game is to defend your castle and attack your opponent's castle at the same time. Every time you hit an enemy unit, you gain gold which you can spend on your own troops, building defenses and catapults, or upgrading your hero. A tip would be to try to send your troops in tightly packed waves so they can dish out the maximum damage. Good Luck!

Instructions:
· Look Around = W,A,S,D Keys
· Shoot = Mouse (left click button)
· Buy Upgrades / Troops = Mouse (point and click)

FireHeart Paladins Walkthrough - Chapter Four Part 1

CHAPTER FOUR
THE FORBIDDEN LOVERS

Out of the fiery tracks, go east and enter the capital of Lore Kingdom, Alceste City.

Alceste City

Upon entering the gate, Robert tells the party that he needs to visit his friend’s house, the green-roofed suburban house on the bottom right corner behind the outer city wall. Find and enter the house and talk to the woman inside: Dorothea Turnbill. Get out of the house and head to the Bistro Hut, the wooden building just across the inn and jewelry store. Talk to the chubby man eating like a machine there to trigger an event between Rob and his old friend Sir Tylich Turnbill.

After that, exit the bistro hut to get the quest item: [Elven Cookbook].
Read (use) it to note the ingredients you need to make the ultimate dish:

Quest: Yggdrasil Extravaganza - Mainstream

1x Garlic, 1x Spinach, 1x Carrot, 1x Ginseng
1x Mandrake Root, 1x Mandrake Berry, 1x Nightshade Mushroom
1x Special Spices (basil, turmeric, galingale, nutmeg)
Plus, one slice of Tenderloin Steak.

You can buy the ingredients in the marketplace just next to the inner city gate, except Special Spices and Tenderloin Steak. Talk to all merchants there (mandatory!) and you’ll get the clue for getting the special spices from a hooded, mysterious supplier.

Explore the city and you’ll find three hooded people there. The one you seek is on the upper-left corner of the map, strolling along the buildings south of the moat, while the others will either steal your money or kill you instantly (instant death – subject to revision).

Ready at least 1,000 – 2,000 geines before you talk to the hooded person who turns out to be Ney’varith Ushmiel, a she-elf mage and buy the Special Spices.

The last ingredient is Tenderloin Beef, and the only place you can get it is the barnyard on the bottom left corner of the city between the walls.

Alceste Barnyard
Quest: Barnyard Rodeo – Mainstream

Alas, the shopkeep can’t sell anything because there’s a problem at hand: The cattle there are mutating into monsters! Volunteer to help find the cause and solution to this problem in a “barnyard rodeo”, fighting mutated cows (Lesser Minotaurs) and the MINI-BOSS: Mutated rooster (Cockatrice).

Search in the well and you’ll find the cause: the magic crystal called Thaumaturvium with power to mutate beasts and plants into monsters. This is a quest item, so keep it always in the inventory.

Buy Tenderloin Steak and touch the stove in Sir Tylich’s suburban house to cook the Yggdrasil Extravaganza. Pick up (or rather) drag Sir Tylich out of the Bistro Hut and back to his house. He’ll taste the food and will agree to help you at last.

Again, talk to the hooded Ney. She’ll help you gain access into Marlham Royal Palace (north edge of the map) while Tylich arranges the appointment with Rael’charon and asks you to come again near the palace gate by midnight.

Take your time, restock your potions and play some mini-games: Horse Race Level 2 in the stable near Sir Tylich’s house and Dice Guess – Pea Guess game in the pub on the top right corner of the city map.

When you’re done, save your game and rest at the inn. Night comes, and it’s darker than usual. Go to the upper end of town near the moat and talk with Ney’varith the elf there. She’ll tell you that Rael’charon has agreed to meet in the Royal Orchard in the palace. She then conjures a bridge of vines over the palace rampart. Just climb the “bridge”, and voila! You’re in!

This is the exact location of the "vine bridge" and meeting point with Ney:

Cristophe Deveraux the Paladin

You can explore the castle grounds first for bonuses in treasure chests (gamers’ privilege) before “touching” the character in the center the orchard to talk to him.

Rael’charon the elf is actually the Royal Advisor of Lore (“borrowed” from Thyrine). He then asks you a favor to find the Princess of Lore, Eloise who has a weird habit lately of going to Alceste Cemetery every midnight.

Robert then agrees to investigate it. Rael’charon joins the group and the scene changes into the cemetery entrance.

3.3.15.1. Devastation Part 1 - Book Three Start

BOOK THREE:
THE LION, THE EAGLE
AND THE SERPENT

CHAPTER FIFTEEN
THE EMPEROR’S MADNESS

‘Changes are made from decisions’
- Melchior Weinervalt, Archmage, Inventor, Philosopher

3.3.15.1. Devastation

Devastation.
It takes just one word to picture the Great City of Myrcalia, capital of the Empire of Arcadia right now. Buildings were reduced to rubbles, fire and smoke everywhere, and the air reeks of rotting dead – people and undead. Here and there, the soldiers and citizens pile up and burn the undead and collect the remains of their comrades to be identified and buried properly.

Women and children come out from the bunkers, underground shelters or anywhere else safer, searching out for their relatives and family members. Soon enough, wails and screams echo throughout the city.

Mankind paid a great price that day – Day of the Devil. Many have given their lives to finally prevail against the Dark Forces. Brave heroes have fought and fell, and no one grieves Arcadia more than the loss of their future Emperor, the greatest of the Twelve Paladins, the Crown Prince of Arcadia Alexis Deveraux.

Marcus Deveraux, Emperor Sage the Fourth rushes into the room where his son lays. His heart is as though stopped abruptly on that deathly sight, and he collapses. Marcus’ second son, Cristophe Deveraux quickly comes to support his father.

The next time Marcus opens his eyes, he finds himself in his bedroom. He wants to get up, but he’s still too weak from the shock.

Father Bernides the morbit healer comes to him, saying, ‘Nak, nak. Please don’t get up, Your Majesty. You have been passed out for two days, so you need more rest.’

‘NO! I must see my son, Alexis! He must’ve been hurt from all that fighting. The devil, the war… I must see him and congratulate him for the successful defense, for saving our lives. Of course, the other Paladins helped too, but no one can match my son’s strength! He never lost a fight, Alexis, my dearest, dearest son…’

Still mumbling, the Fourth Emperor of Arcadia forces himself to get up and walk. He stumbles and Bernides supports him, waking with him, saying,
‘Let me take you to him, Your Majesty. Nak, nak.’

Bernides guides the Emperor on the long walk along the corridor.

‘Lo, aren’t we going to my son’s room?’ says Sage, confused.

‘No, he’s not here. Just go along with me. Nak, nak.’

Sage follows helplessly. Bernides sees his face and knows what’s really going on in his mind, so he just walks on, saying ‘Nak, nak’ sadly every now and then.

As they reach the chapel, Sage becomes excited again.

‘Ooh, is he in here? Praying to Vadis as thanks for our deliverance, maybe? Or meeting with the Bishops to restore the citizen’s morale. He is such a resourceful man, so fitting to be the next Emperor – Sage the Fifth, the Protector of Arcadia. Don’t you all agree?’

Sage talks to all people in the chapel, but they are looking back at him with dread and worry on their faces.

‘What are you all doing? Aren’t you happy that my son is the greatest of the Twelve? The future Emperor of Arcadia? Careful what you act, or you all will get capital punishment!’ Sage retorts, walking straight to the altar.

‘And what is this coffin doing in the middle of the altar? I demand you to get rid of this at once! We should celebrate our victory, not grieve upon some…’

As he takes a good look on the crystal coffin in front of him, the Emperor is stunned. There he sees in the coffin, his own son Alexis Deveraux. Wearing full armor, holding a decorative sword on both hands. Various, colorful flowers surround his body. His face looks peaceful, yet deathly pale.

Here he is. The Emperor, taking the second shock. Apparently, all this time he’s been trying to convince himself that it was just an illusion, a nightmare, a fabricated enemy trick that his favorite son is dead, gone – and all his expectations with him.

‘No, this can’t be… My son Alexis is very strong. Yes, very, very strong. Hey, this is just a joke, right? Because it’s a sick joke. Not funny at all.’

All the people there: the royal family, ministers, civil and military officers and the Paladins don’t respond. Some even mourn in silence. No one raises a voice. No one dares to contradict the Emperor in that state. They just knew one thing: another hero is lost. Not just the one in the coffin, not the one who has lost his life, but the one who is unable to be a hero or anyone anymore because he has lost his mind.
‘Alexis Deveraux! I want you to get up this instant! It’s an order! It’s no time play. You are a man now. A Prince, a warrior, the future Emperor!

When you lost the war against Lore, you showed your strength by recovering so fast from your stress and rebuilding the army. When you were lost to your brother, you stayed calm, open-heartedly let him claim the Arsenal of Light and the Princess of Lore. You are still the Crown Prince, nonetheless.

Are you just angry with me, Alexis, my son? Let me tell you one thing: Just let Cristophe be Vadis’ Heir, and you, you are the Emperor of Arcadia!’

The dead cannot respond – it’s obvious. The Emperor knows that, but his pride and principles are too strong, preventing him from seeing the truth. His mind refuses the information from his senses. The more truth and information he receives, the more his mind conflicts with his senses. His perception, his actions are in contrary from the truth – and that is what we call: insanity.

Finally, Sage comes to the boiling point. He shakes the crystal coffin and tries to open the lid.

‘GET UP! You are the true son of mine, the pride of Arcadia! ON YOUR FEET! Stand now like a true Emperor!’

Andreas looks at Bernides, and the morbit looks back at the dwarf with a nod. And then, Bernides comes forward and says to the Emperor, ‘Pardon me, Your Majesty. Palpetrcerebron!’

A jet of white light hits Sage. The Emperor drops forward, unconscious on top of the coffin. The spell only works on the brain in weakened, confused or distracted state as he is in now.

Prince Cristophe moves to carry his father again, but Carolyn prevents him. ‘Let the medics carry him to his room. It’ll be less risky for you.’

No one can guess how Chris is feeling now as he sees the soldiers carry his father away. He doesn’t even notice his wife, Eloise sitting in a corner, looking somewhat depressed. He just walks out from the chapel.

Cristophe goes to one of the towers of Levides Palace where he usually spends his time alone. There, he pours all his anguish and sadness.

I’ve lost a brother, and now my father lost his mind too. All because of that man’s doing – a man whom I used to call a friend!

He hits the wall so hard, his knuckles bleeding. Now Chris tries hard not to lose his mind too.

I’ve sworn, I shall not rest until I kill that traitor, Robert Chandler! He must’ve been hidden somewhere with Algaban, and I shall go to Mount Hvalgarr and challenge them both if I have to!

Suddenly, there’s a knock on the door, disrupting his chain of thoughts.
Chris shouts, ‘I’ve told you! Don’t disturb me!’

‘It’s me, Eloise.’
‘What do you want?’
‘I need to talk to you.’
‘Sorry, Eloise, but I want to be alone right now.’
‘I’m not here to console you or anything. I just need your help, as your wife. So help me, make me feel like one.’

Chris doesn’t answer. He just falls silent for a while, then goes and opens the door. Eloise is there, looking somewhat depressed and frightened.
I might be torn apart, but I better not destroy her and lose a family of my own, the family I just built.

With that thought, Chris curls a smile. Seeing that, Eloise clings and hugs Chris as though a heavy burden was just lifted from her heart. She cries tears of relief.

‘Now, now, what’s the matter, my love? I’m just being sad, that’s all.’
‘Your oath scares me, Chris. I don’t know whether Robert Chandler has killed your brother and made your father lose his mind, but he is a Lorean, just like me. I was afraid that you would pour your vengeance upon me and all Lore because of a traitor.

Honestly, I don’t believe Robert would jeopardize his country and me as a Lorean, unless he was framed or he is truly Vordac’s Heir. If so, he did it as an individual, and Lore has nothing to do with it. In fact, if he is the Dark Heir, all Lore will hunt him down.’

‘For your sake, I hope you’re right. Robert is a traitor both to Lore and to the Fellowship of the Paladins. He has been caught red-handed, but escaped. Don’t worry, Eloise. When King George, your father knows about this, he shall regret knighting Robert and hunt him down for sure.’

‘Oh, thank you, Chris. I love you. Oh, hey, your hands are hurt.’
Chris stares at his bleeding knuckles and answers, ‘Oh, it’s nothing compares to…’
Eloise doesn’t wait. She just kisses Chris’ knuckles and rubs it gently to stop the bleeding and ease the pain. Though it’s a vain try, it’s enough to move her husband’s sympathy.

Cristophe kisses Eloise, with a kiss so deep and warm, drifting them further, drowning them deeper into the sea of their romance.

==oOo==

Meanwhile, in Lore…

‘Robert Chandler, do you swear that you’re not the Heir of Vordac?’

‘I’ve sworn it and I don’t have to do it again. If I am the Heir, I would go somewhere else or kill you this instant, Rael’charon.’

‘Good. Then I won’t take back my words. I still believe in you, Robert, but for goodness sake we must put you in prison until we can prove that you were only framed.’

‘Thank you, Rael. I’m sure you can look through this ruse.’

Exclusive!
From the author of The Order of Odd Fish

J'Accuse, Neil Gaiman!

No Neil Gaiman fan, no matter how devoted, can reasonably say the man hasn't won enough awards. He hoovers them up at the rate of three a week! Jesus, people! There are other fantasy authors!

James Kennedy is on the case. The author of the young adult fantasy The Order of Odd-Fish is also a tireless investigator of the seamy side of Gaiman. It was Kennedy who broke the once-controversial story, now accepted as common knowledge, that all Neil Gaiman's books are written by bees. (In retaliation for this expose, Amanda Palmer thrust a lit cigarette up Kennedy's nose at the Golden Globes. Stay classy, Palmer.)

When Gaiman won the American Library Association?s Newbery award for The Graveyard Book, an outraged Kennedy stormed the ALA conference, tackled Neil Gaiman, and seized the Newbery for himself. In accordance with the ALA's ancient laws, Kennedy and Gaiman then competed in a series of mental and physical trials to determine the rightful Newbery winner. Bloodthirsty librarians ululated with glee.

Unfortunately, the ever-wily Gaiman won all the contests. As demanded by ALA superstitions, Kennedy was sacrificed to their dark gods, using an unholy knife forged in the very flames of the burning of the Library of Alexandria. A visibly shaken Gaiman repented his pride and, weeping over Kennedy?s corpse, led the librarians in chanting "GIVE KENNEDY THE NEWBERY"—and so it came to pass.

Pictures and video of the brouhaha are online here.

James Kennedy is buried in his hometown of Troy, Michigan. He is survived by a wife and daughter. His only novel, the Newbery award-winning The Order of Odd-Fish, is now available in paperback.
